Why is mold a problem?

 

Mold can appear almost anywhere in a house. It is very important to have your home tested if you suspect you have a mold problem. Excessive indoor humidity or active water leaks can create conditions that enable mold to grow on any surface where organic material is present. Mold issues can create a lot of grief for homeowners and tenants if they are not diagnosed properly. Remediation can also be very expensive if the mold growth is expansive throughout an area of a home. Having a mold inspection done is crucial to determine the presence and type of mold as well as the water/humidity source contributing to the growth. An inspection can also create peace of mind knowing if the problem is minor and can be simply fixed with a common mold remover solution.

What's included in a mold inspection?

  • Visual inspection of exterior, roof and interior areas of the house.

  • Measurement of indoor/outdoor humidity. Thermal imaging and moisture detection using industry leading equipment.

  • Swabs/bulk samples are taken of any areas discovered where mold is present.

  • If no visual mold is observed an air quality test can be performed to determine the concentration of mold spores in the house.

  • Written report completed with pictures and lab analysis data. As well as remediation plan or consultation on mold removal.

Air Quality Testing

If you have been experiencing cold symptoms or headaches when in your house for long periods of time you may have a mold issue. Even if mold is not visible in the house, it may be hidden behind walls, furniture, carpet etc. An air quality test can determine whether or not mold spores are elevated in an area of the house. If spore counts are elevated, further evaluation can be done to determine the source of the mold problem.
